How to make
Animatronics
With a 3D Printer!
" Hello, my name is Micromaxity. I'll walk you through a little tutorial on how to make an animatronic, if you have a 3d printer (it's quite easy). First you're gonna need servos, I recommend getting micro servos for the eyes, and full size servos for the mouth. Next you're gonna need a model to 3D print, like Simon Animatronics' model or even your own. Your also gonna need screws, so you can attach the parts together (PROTIP: don't use glue, trust me) and the necessary tools like a drill, screwdriver, paint, an Arduino, jumper wires, sand paper, and if you want super smooth prints, use a mixture of wood filler and acetone. Here are some steps to making your animatronic and this is trying to be as universal as possible. "
Materials
1 Servo Motor
Few Micro Servo Motors
Screws
Arduino
Jumper wires
Tools
Drill
Screwdriver
Equipment
3D Printer
Find your model. You can get a few free models with the button at the top of this page labeled, "3D Printed Animatronic Files"
Gather necessary material (3D printer, filament, servos, screws, etc)
Set up your slicer software. (If you need help with this, watch one of my tutorials on my YouTube channel, @Micromaxity3d )
Slice the model
Send the gcode files to your 3D printer
Once your 3D printer has finished printing, mount the servo motors onto your animatronic.
Connect the servo motors to an Arduino with jumper wires.
Program the Arduino with Bottango (I will make a video on that)
REMEMBER: This tutorial trys to be as universal as possible. Always ask the designer for steps (if not already provided)
You should now have an animatronic!
